What Lantern is

Lantern screens public YouTube videos against limits you set and gives each of your children a wall of approved videos. You set the rules; Lantern applies them. The videos themselves are YouTube's, play in YouTube's player, and remain governed by YouTube's own terms. Lantern is not affiliated with YouTube or Google.

Your account

Accounts are for adults. You must be the parent or legal guardian of the children you add, and you are responsible for what happens under your account. Lantern is invite-only while in alpha; one account per family, and please don't share your sign-in link.

Your children's links

Each child's wall works from a private link. Treat it like a house key: share it only with devices and people you trust, and rotate it from settings if it leaks. A wall link grants viewing only; it cannot change any setting.

Screening has limits

Lantern's readers are careful but not perfect, and YouTube's catalog changes constantly. A video that slipped past the rules can be removed from every wall with one tap, and we tell you why it was there. Lantern is a tool that helps you supervise; it is not a substitute for supervision, and we do not promise that every video will match every family's judgment.

Fair use of the service

Don't use Lantern to break YouTube's terms, to rehost or scrape video content, to probe other families' data, or to do anything unlawful. Don't resell access. We can suspend an account that abuses the service or endangers other families, and we will say why.

Alpha, plainly stated

Lantern is a private alpha run by a small family company. It comes as-is, without warranties, and without a promise of uptime or of continued service. We may change or discontinue features while the alpha runs. If we ever wind the service down, we will give you notice and time to download your family's record. Nothing is charged during the beta. Paid plans, their prices, and the refund promise are on the pricing and refunds pages and apply only once you subscribe.

Your data

What we collect, who helps us run the service, and how deletion works are all in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms. You can download your family's whole record or delete the whole family, both from settings, at any time.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Blue Camel Consulting LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from the use of an alpha service provided free of charge. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we email the parents; the date at the top is the date the words took effect.
